We chose this cruise because if fitted our dates. All of my party bar one has been on a Celebrity cruise before but it was my and my husband's first time on Solstice. We travelled in a family group.
One thing that really struck us upon embarkation was how empty the ship was. That made embarkation really quick. We later found out it had only 32% occupancy so it was a very different experience from previous Celebrity cruises. In some ways it was nice, not having to wait for drinks in the bars or queue up for Anytime Dining and it was easy to swap from set dining times to anytime dining. it was also nice not having crowded swimming pools or having to wait long to use the hot tubs. The downside was a lack of atmosphere in the theatre and only having one show per evening instead of the usual two performances. The performance was at 21.00 every night which meant we had to change the time we dined if we wanted to see the show.
It also meant that the staff were very eager to please and very friendly. You practically got cheered when you entered the restaurant.
Cabin 7300. Great because not too far from lifts and close to hang out lounge. Reasonable size as was the bathroom. I personally thought storage space could be better designed. Only a few hangers in the wardrobe so had to ask for more which, to be fair, were brought pretty promptly.
Nice balcony which we didn't use because the weather wasn't that great. My mother-in-law had the cabin next door and we had the balcony divided pulled back we could share the balconies.
Rather spoilt by a bad thunderstorm the first day so couldn't spend as long as we wanted in the city. We went to see the Little Mermaid - iconic statue but it is a very long walk to find it.
Added to the itinerary because St Petersburg was taken off. Ok but nothing wonderful. Just a resort town. The best thing was a visit to the Anchers House. The Anchers were famous Danish painters. There is an art museum in Skagen and you could buy a combined ticket to visit that and the house but sadly, we didn't have time.
It was very hot the day we visited Tallinn. Nice city but no real outstanding landmarks.
