Chose this cruise to see how the old communist countries have fared.The Emerald Sky is a standard Emerald boat that on close inspection is starting to look slightly tatty. The onboard service, as usual, was exemplary. A suprise to me was the 40 degree heat at the end of June into July with humidity to match. This is energy sapping and full day excursions were arduous.

Food,of course, depends on the chef. I would rate the quality below my previous Emerald cruises and certainly below the quality on Viking.

My lasting memory of this cruise will be returning home with COVID. It wasn't mentioned on the cruise briefing and no one was even given a temperature test. On reflection, a number of passengers were coughing and when we returned home and tested we were positive and ill. Read more
