We had FCC we needed to use this year from a canceled cruise, and the timing of this itinerary worked with school and summer camp schedules.

This was our 4th NCL Cruise and the first time on one of their newer, larger ships.

Overall we had a great time, though we did bring Covid home with us!

Cabin Review

Family Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin Family Club Balcony Suite.

The bed was by the balcony, which made the room feel bigger; initially, we wanted this configuration to put our 5-year-old to bed and then sit out on the balcony; however, that didn't work out.

Overall the cabin was great, especially the large walk-in shower; this might have been the best bathroom configuration and shower we have ever had on a cruise shop. There were, however, two cons.

- It was very tight for three people with very limited storage.

- I missed the dividing curtain between the bed and the sofa bed that you get on the older ships in this cabin class. It would have been nice to put my 5-year-old to bed, close the curtain and have some privacy instead of having to go to bed at the same time as my daughter every night.

Port Reviews

Costa Maya

We stayed on the ship at Costa Maya and had a lovely day riding the water slides and visiting the Spa.

Cozumel

We booked an all-inclusive package to Paradise beach.

This is the first time we have visited Cozumel and not booked a ship tour; we usually go to Playa Mia but decided to try something different this time. The walk from the ship through the port was ok; we politely told all the shopkeepers accosting us no thank you.

We took a taxi for $16 to Paradise Beach, where we were quickly checked in and taken to pick out our spot for the day. They have a lovely pool, but we opted for the beach. The all-inclusive package includes drinks, food, and all the facilities. Everything was clean, the staff was friendly, and the food was good.

Harvest Caye

Harvest Cay was the trip's highlight for us. We splurged on a private beach cabana. Once off the ship, we walked to the check-in desk, where we were driven to our Cabana. The Cabanas are located at the far end of the beach, where it is quiet. We had our bathroom with a shower, an air-conditioned living room, a deck with shade and sun loungers, loungers, umbrellas and floaties, and a hammock. The staff came around frequently to take food and drink orders.

The beach is a little rocky but still lovely.

Roatan

We did the VIP Turquise Beach Break booked with NCL.

Once off the ship, we got on a tiny bus for the 30-minute ride to the resort. The beach was very nice as were the facilities. Service was a little hit or miss, as was the food. But everything was included, and they had activities for kids, and the water was great.
