We took this cruise for our 25th anniversary, and we had sailed 4 times prior on Azamara 0ver the last few years. The ports all seemed great, so we booked about 8 months in advance.
Shortly before the cruise, between not knowing where the ship would dock, Venice, Ravenna or ?, it was decided that it would sail from Ravenna and Azamara would bus us down to Ravenna from Venice airport, 2.5 hours. We spoke with Azamara and they told us that we could arrive the day prior so we can spend one night in a hotel on Ravenna. They would drop us off in the center of town so we knew where best to book our B&B. As it turned out, Azamara did not meet us at the airport, and were told we were on our own to get to Ravenna....keep in mind, we arrived at 6:00pm. What a nightmare Azamara caused us. I wont go into details, but they needed to get their act together. Once we did get on board the next day, they did agree to pay for our expenses, but gave no reason they did not meet us.
The cruise was going to have excursions from Ravenna to Venice (visiting Venice was one of the reasons for this trip), but at the last minute, they cancelled all of them. Those cancelled most of the other excursions into Ravenna and Bolognia. This was very disappointing. The cancelations of excursions happened throughout the voyage . From what I understand the reason was their vendor or there wasn't enough interest. I should also point out there were 335 guests onboard, one reason to reconsider booking on a small line like Azamara...not many excursions.
refreshed bedding and drapes, but hardwoods (desk, closets etc) were very wells used over past 23 years, they should have been replaced
nice port to visit. Azamara didnt offer many excursions there
took the food tasting tour, wasnt very good. Better to just walk around the town on your own,
another port that ship parked right at, great to just walk around on your own. Again, not many excursions offered by Azamara,
