This was our first cruise on Oceania, after having sailed Celebrity on our most recent 3 cruises. Oceania was recommended by friends, so thought we would take the plunge, and we were glad that we did! Here are some of our observations:

CHECK IN: We departed from Civitavecchia (Rome). The terminal was older, but well laid out. Being a small ship with staggered check in times, there were no long lines, and we were on board within 20 minutes or so.

SHIP: The Riviera is beautiful, even if she is scheduled for a renovation this winter. So classy! Rich woodwork and paintings and other artwork are gorgeous. Everything seemed to be in very good repair, especially the varnished rails (which on other ships was a bit "spotty"). Really appreciated the lack of water parks and those other "big ship" amenities. That is NOT why we cruise! Restaurants are all very elegant in their own right. I'm not sure I've seen a more beautiful ship!

Very rich woods. Very comfortable beds. This was plenty of room for 3 of us, as sister-in-law traveled with us.
