Traveled with children

We chose this cruise because the kids as 3rd and 4th passengers would be free and our grandkids and their moms who are teachers would be done with the school year. We are a group of 12, 7 adults(grandparents, parents and an adult relative) and 5 kids, ages 2 to 10.

Getting to Miami: We all flew in the day before the cruise. Three different flights. Each was delayed some, but none cancelled. We stayed at the Hampton Blue Lagoon, ship picked us up at the airport and had a shuttle ($10 each) to the airport. Plus it was walking distance from a Walgreens, a CVS and strip mall with a few restaurants.

Embarkation: Vaccines are required. No problem. A negative Covid test within 2 days was required. DH and I got tested near our home at a CVS the Friday before this Sunday cruise but did not get our results. We even went to the CVS across from the hotel and were given a number to call. Another woman had the same problem. At the port, one worker said CVS was the worse. We were escorted to an area where they did testing and charged $75 each for a test. Two of the children traveling with us had not been vaccinated. One was 2 and too young to get the vacine and the other had just turned 5 and had only one shot. Both had to go to the testing area for a test at no charge. After that hassle, there was little problem getting on the ship.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

General balcony cabin. Balcony felt much smaller that other balconies we have had. Bathroom had great shelf space for what we need in there. Showers were fine. Our grandson stayed in our cabin on the couch which was made into a bed the whole time. There were nice big drawers under the couch where he could put all of his stuff.

We had an issue with water on the carpet near the closet. It was soaked. They came in and said it had something to do with the air conditioning. In our son's cabin, 12846, it was worse and got their luggage under the bed wet. They brought in strong fans and a dehumidifier while we were out of the cabin. I think they would have moved us if we had wanted, that would have been such a hassle and we would not have been all together. We managed, but wondered if they would put people in those cabins the next cruise.
