This cruise was enjoyable, particularly as not full with only 2200 guests. We were on the silhouette in 2018 and at capacity it was unpleasantly full in the ocean view restaurant and around the ship. All staff were very friendly as usual and the senior team were more visible. Embarkation was challenging as the long queues were very slow moving. Disembarkation was much easier. The main restaurant food was mostly very good with only a couple of off days on the vegetarian option e.g. they managed to make the gnocchi dish chewy and tasteless but this was out of the ordinary. Food is served to you in the ocean view buffet so better than everyone helping themselves. Entertainment was good. Films in celebrity central were new releases but at odd times so we didn’t get to see. Less gym classes than before and paid for ones now 20 dollars each. Public areas very nice , Al Bacio cafe was always full probably due to inclement weather on sea days. Ports were all very nice Southampton , guernsey, Ireland, greenock, Reykjavik, but missed Akureyri due to a storm. A couple of the other ports had times shortened for unknown reason announed on the first day which was inconvenient as we had private tours booked, but we did stay in Liverpool later. Speaking to a disabled person they found some of the ports a challenge to disembark either steep gangways or difficulty with two tender ports . this ship did have Covid onboard which seemed to be worsening over the cruise but without full information on the scale of the problem. At the end of the first week we were told it was just over 1% but by the second week we were asked to wear masks in all indoor areas and enhanced measures were made eg taking the books away. There appeared to be cabins quarantining on our section as they were being delivered lunch and dinner. There were people coughing and sniffing. Overall it was nice to be back cruising and we had a great time.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 2C

Very good cabin and helpful room steward. Mid ship deck 7 you could hear the entertainment in the grand foyer but it was usually finished by 11 pm and didn’t bother us at all.

Port Reviews

Akureyri

Missed this port due to bad weather

Cobh (Cork)

Nice port and area
