The following contains my review of the cruise I took with my family (wife, and two teenage girls, ages 13 & 16) of the Baltic Capitals departing on June 4 2010 from Dover. We felt this trip would be the "trip of a lifetime" for the family and were not disappointed. The cities visited on this cruise were both very historic and scenic. This was not our first cruise. We have been on cruises with both NCL and Disney. We consider ourselves to be a "Disney Family" and visit the parks annually, so we consider ourselves to be spoiled by the Disney experience. I tell you this to give you an idea of my level of expectation from a cruise line.

When we started looking at cruises and ran across this itinerary, my wife and I first wrote it off as unaffordable, but since we had cruised with NCL before, decided to give them a call and see if our "repeat customer" classification would give us any discounts. At first it did not, but they noted our interest in this cruise and a few months later when NCL was trying to fill the ship they gave us a call and made us an offer we could not refuse. (this is important, you will see later in the dislikes) The itinerary for this cruise was as follows: Fri London (Dover) - 4:00 PM Sat At Sea - - Sun Copenhagen 9:00 AM 6:00 PM Mon Berlin (Warnemuende) 7:30 AM 10:00 PM Tue At Sea - - Wed Tallinn 9:00 AM 5:30 PM Thu Fri St. Petersburg 8:00 AM - Overnight 7:00 PM Sat Helsinki 8:00 AM 5:30 PM Sun Stockholm (Nynashamn) 7:00 AM 6:00 PM Mon At Sea - - Tue At Sea - - Wed London (Dover) 5:00 AM -

We booked our own transportation to/from Dover. We gave ourselves an extra day on the front for travel and stayed two full days in London after the cruise. I strongly recommend planning at least a day on each end, more if you can afford it. We wish we had taken more time to tour London before heading home and would have enjoyed seeing more of Dover before the cruise.
