We arrived home from our June 13-20 Cruise to Alaska on NCL Jewel yesterday. It's hot in Texas, so I thought it might cool me off to remember our cruise. Embarkation went pretty smoothly. Our time was 10:30, and after showing our NEG results, we were in line to get checked in. I will say, I did all of the Online Checking, but they did it all over again at check-in. Working harder, not smarter! We were onboard by 11:30am and since we watched the safety video, we walked to our Muster station and reported in and then we were off to the buffet for lunch! We loved our time on the Jewel. We were sailing about 1/2 capacity. It has been beautifully refurbished ....our cabin, was great. It is Mid-Forward ( just a bit Forward). Our cabin Steward, Jeffery was outstanding. He took great care of us all week. He was leaving the Jewel in Alaska to go home for 3 months. We did dine in the Palace dining room a few times, dinner and breakfast, every meal was wonderful and service was great. We also enjoyed the buffet a few times...breakfast, lunch and light dinner. We loved Cagney's and Le Bistro, food was delicious! All of our servers and bartenders throughout the ship were quite friendly and eager to serve. We did take advantage of the Laundry Bag for $29 on day 5. We had 5 days in Alaska following the cruise, so this kept us from having to do laundry when we got to our Alaska destinations. We had beautiful weather! Sunshine in every port! We booked the Rainforest Ropes Challenge and Zipline in Ketchikan....tremendous fun! We rode the Tram in Juneau, and then the Evening Whale Watch. In Skagway, we ventured out on our own for hike. Glacier Bay was exciting...Margeie Glacier was very active, Calving quite a bit. Hubbard Glaicer was a bit cloudy, but still very viewable.
Disembarkation was easy...we carried off our own luggage and caught a bus transport to the Anchorage Airport to get our rent car to continue our vacay. My husband purchased 4 next cruise deposits...thinking of a family vacay with our 3 grown kids in the future!
