I have heard wonderful things about Viking cruises, and it didn’t disappoint. The itinerary was good. I would have preferred some of the included tours to be something other than walking tours. Some members of our group have mobility issues, including myself. All that walking became very painful by the end of the tour. The food was good. We tended to sit in the same place each day for lunch and dinner. Our wait staff was amazing! They remembered what we liked and were ready with our usuals before we asked for it. It would have been nice to have more choices for the included wine choices. I was happy and thankful to know that Viking took our health and safety into consideration. But, COVID played a big role in our anxiety prior to, during, and preparing for our trip back home. We were totally stressed worrying that our PCR test would not come back in time. The masks were uncomfortable, but we all understood their necessity. Hopefully, by the time we take our next trip COVID will not be a concern.
We truly enjoyed our hotel in The Hague. The room was beautiful and both the hotel and Viking staff were friendly and helpful. Eric, our Viking guide in Basel was just amazing! He gave us a wonderful tour of the city and was helpful with any questions/problem we had. However, I was not very impressed with the hotel.
Another issue we had was with our airfare. We all paid the extra $50 to be part of the Air Plus program. There were 10 of us and we all wanted to travel together. The day before leaving for home, they changed all our flights. We were not traveling on the same flight home. We had a limo driver that would be meeting us at the airport to drive us all home. It took me several phone calls to the air department and a lot of time to get us on the same flight. I realize that it was British Airways who changed the fight itinerary, but someone from Viking should have been on top of this.
Cabin size was small, as well as, the balcony. Cabin steward was wonderful and kept the cabin immaculate!
I was disappointed with Amsterdam. I was looking forward to the canal ride. The boat driver was rude and not at all accommodating. The water was very dirty. Our Viking guide was very good.
