We really looked forward to this cruise. I wish I had never gone. I love snorkeling in Grand Turk and this time was no exception. It was the best part of the cruise. Wonderful water, easy to get to the beach from the ship, really just excellent! But..the bad far outweighted the good. The food quality has really gone downhill. "Someone left the cake out in the rain" was the dessert theme. With few exceptions, every cake we tried was..well, wet. Not moist, but wet, like they had soaked it in water or something. I heard a few people commenting on this - "This cake is wet". it was really weird and unpleasant. It's a small thing, but ..not nice. There were a few REALLY NICE items, like the friend shrimp on the last night but generally speaking, the food was just sub par. The Steakhouse was good, Sushi is good, but the 'included food' was not good. There is this video now they show about "food waste". I think they might want to look at the food the serve, because you get it, thinking it sounds nice (although often does not look very nice) and it is not. It used to be. I used to love the ham and turkey and pumpkin soup and rolls - but now, its just...below average, so it gets throw out. Ok, so they have staffing problems. I get it. That is probably why the vanilla birthday cake that was ordered showed up and was strawberry - and wet :) To their credit, they did refund that! The ship was pretty, the staff was mostly friendly, the weather was great...but then came the nightmare. I bought internet so I could connect with my home business...and it connected fine on day one. That evening, they changed something in their network configuration and I could not connect. I tried asking at guest services, and they said they would "check" but the next day, same problem. This repeated for every singly day and night of the cruise. The problem was their network configuration. Regular internet worked fine but connections requiring a valid time/date/digital certificate did not work. So, if you were looking at facebook or checking mail, no problem but if you had some connection that was not web based you were out of luck. I told them repeatedly what the issue was and how to fix it. I asked to speak to their IT person. I got nowhere. I was repeatedly asked "What URL are you trying to get to" and I told them repeatedly 'It is not an HTTP problem, it is not a URL, it is a network configuration issue - it worked fine when we sailed out, your guys changed something, and I am unable to connect my program to my computer at my house, so please fix this.'. I was told 'They will, we will send them an e-mail'. After 5 days of this, it was time to come home and it was still not fixed. "Internet service is not guaranteed" "I know this, your internet service overall is FINE, its the connection that requires a digital certificate and correct time/date that is misconfigured and its on your network and I know this because I have tried it using 3 different clients, on two different computers and I can see the error, please look at your server logs, you will see it, and can fix it." They didn't. They were simply not interested in helping me, so I am really reconsidering my whole cruise future. I need to be able to connect and for the past three years I have had no problem doing so but this time - no only was I not able to connect, they treated me like it didn't matter, which I guess, it didn't, to them. Kind of ruined the cruise for me.
