We've been on 4 previous VO cruises and loved them all. Although I still would choose Viking over any other cruise line, this one had problems, and I'm telling myself that they were not all of Viking's cause, but due to current condtitions.

We flew into Venice and zipped quickly through customs with no problems, but then came the hour and a half that we spent in line at the Venice port hall trying to get checked in there. Not nearly enough Viking reps to handle the long line of passengers. Also, our luggage was not delivered by Viking until late afternoon (although it made it through the airlines with no problem).

A big problem was the lack of proficient English in most tour guides that we had. It got to where we often just tuned out because we could not understand what they were saying. Read more
