By and largest, the cruise itself was just wonderful and really the trip of a lifetime. The stops along the way are to places you always dream of wanting to visit. The service onboard was great and the food, amenities and cabin were also great. Would love to see 2 days in Rome instead of 1. All of the excursions were great, however, many were sold out prior to us being able to even choose any which was very disappointing. I understand the tiering of when you can enroll but selling out after only the first group can pick is not right. There is no waiting list so you're just out of luck or you're told you can check the available each and every day for possible cancellations which is not convenient or practical. Less than 24 hours before we were supposed to leave our connecting flight was canceled and Viking Air said there was nothing they could do to help. We were told that we had to call the airlines directly and basically good luck. Very very disappointing. As a result we incurred additional expenses which we have yet to be reimbursed for because we cannot get through to any customer service person. So far we've wasted over 3 hours on hold and have just given up. The customer service seems to have gone down unfortunately.
