The cruise: I am giving the Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas Experience a C-. This is why:
The food was basic and unflavorable. I don’t think that is a word, but they need to adjust seasonings and flavorings. The deserts offered in the Windjammer where the buffet is served, all tasted the same: sponge cake with shipped filling; small cups of whipped toping and a fruit topping, cookies were hard and boring. Keith had the bread pudding one day, and it didn’t have flavor. The eggs in the morning were less than desirable. The omelets were small, which is OK with me, but they were scarce on the fillings. If they had spinach one morning, then no tomatoes. No mushrooms, but plenty of bell pepper, onion and ham. We don’t eat pork or beef, and they pushed the ham. They had cheese too, but I don’t like to add the cheese when cruising, as I try and watch my weight. The scrambled eggs were powdery-substance. I had hard boiled eggs the remaining mornings, and they were on the hot buffet. I would gather a few, place them in the room refrigerator, and have them on a bed of lettuce for lunch, and have one the following morning. The muffins looked boring, the biscuits had some flavor, but were very hard. Coffee could be stronger, and I sought for a strength I like amongst the many coffee machines.
Lunches were fine if you like hot entrees and burgers. The salad bar was very deficient. As I mentioned, I took a bed of lettuce and placed hard boiled eggs on top with some dressing. They had small sandwiches, either egg salad (have to do something with the hard-boiled eggs left over) but the breading was too much. The lunch buffet had lots of fries! The windjammer score was a C
