First ocean cruise with Viking. Some elements are the same as cruising with larger ocean cruises such as the lido deck buffet set up and evening dinner and show timing but that's where the similiarities end. Viking maintains it dedication to top notch food and service as experienced on its more intimate river cruises. Things I loved the food was exceptional always and the service in every dining venue completed the experience. Having an included shore excursion in every port is also great and the quality of those tours by and large was very good. I think that you should be able to see a grid of all availability when booking tours prior to cruising. I wanted to combine some included and extra excursions in the same port and seeing what would work and what wouldn't work wasn't always possible. Also it was very frustrating that so many of the premium excursions where sold out already. Hint to others, keep checking on board because people cancel. I didn't realize this and spoke with others who got on some excursions I would have really liked. Even creating a wait list would be nice. Beware you have to use credits before you board, which I think is just wrong especially when tours are sold out.

Those with mobility concerns may be disappointed as my sailing companion was. We tendered in many more ports than we had anticipated, making it difficult to see everything she wanted to. Also the docking information, ramps, number of stairs, and elevator access was often incorrect dependent upon whom you spoke with.

The fitness center hours were awful, not open first thing in the AM! I know if I don't exercise early in the AM, it doesn't get done. Also very poor explanation of the use of the indoor pool and sauna options. I found out to late and thrice braved the frigid indoor pool on the upper deck.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda Stateroom

Cabins are small but adequate. Nice little veranda with seating for watching pulling in or leaving ports. Ample closet space and a spacious well equipped bath.

Excellent cabin steward and cleaning principles
