Wanted to try Viking Ocean, and also see Scandanavia. Disappointed that St. Petersburg was cancelled, but that was due to other reasons. Previous Viking experience was a river cruise and was outstanding, so there was a high bar to meet, and other than Viking Air, the cruise did meet our expectations.
We had booked this a couple years prior and, like so many others, COVID had other plans. Part of that early booking involved flight and seat selection. About 2 months from departure date, received a notice that Icelandair changed our flight and seats. Flight change was not a big deal, however we had chosen and been confirmed for adjacent seats; the new arrangement had us sitting one behind the other. Calls to both Vikin and Icelandair got nowhere; extremely disappointing that neither organization took ownership of this issue. The gate agent at SEA-TAC did her magic and we got our adjacent seating. Flight home was a bit disappointing as well; paid for business class and got British Air Premium Economy. Better legroom than reg. economy, but still was NOT business Class.
We did find out before we departed that hotel rooms booked by Viking for the extensions were equipped with queen sized beds; upgrades to kings not available through Viking, but we did call the hotels and upgraded. At our expense naturally.
