We liked the length of this cruise - long enough to make the 13 hour flight worth it and short enough to leave wanting more. We picked this time of year to be in cities before schools are out and while the rivers are a good height. We also liked the size of the ship - somewhere around 180 capacity. We had fewer due to COVID. Since the COVID regulations that were in effect during our cruise have now been deleted, I'm not going to say much about that except that the crew of the Hild did everything in their power to keep us safe and healthy and when guests did get COVID and had to leave the ship the crew were very thoughtful and took care of them. I wish we had booked the pre-cruise extension to the Swiss Alps - everyone on that extension loved it. I also wished we had booked the Versailles excursion in Paris. We thought we would want more free time in Paris but the tours with Viking are such wonderful experiences we know we would have enjoyed it more than our exploring Paris on our own. Viking also made the Charles deGaulle airport in Paris an okay experience. All my past experiences have been exhausting. We booked a suite and I would recommend it especially if one of you doesn't sleep well or gets up early, stays up late, etc. It also comes with laundry service which was awesome!

Cabin Review

Veranda Suite

Liked the size of the suite - not the biggest but the separate sleeping area is lovely if one of you wants to sleep in, etc. Cabin always clean and well cared for. The laundry service that goes with the suite is worth it!

Port Reviews

Basel

It unexpectedly poured rain during this visit - so much that we had to hide. We did find a lovely place to get a cappuccino and pastry - of course!

Strasbourg

Favorite city of the whole cruise! Lovely streets, cute shops, artistic gelato, a truly lovely atmosphere. Just about the only stop where I found items to purchase that I wanted to take home.

Zurich

So much to see in Zurich. The cathedral with the Chegal stained glass windows was a highlight. Be sure to rent the self-guided earphones. The lake tour via tour boat was lovely. Easy city to get around - wonderful train system and not so crowded with automobiles.
