We chose Viking for our first ever cruise because of their reputation and they had a cruise where we wanted to go. Since it was our first cruise, we weren't sure what to expect. Everything was wonderful.
The staff, especially, could not have been nicer, more attentive, or more helpful. Ansari and Dendi, our cabin attendents took excellent care of us. We did not want for anything. All the staff seemed very happy working for Viking.
The food was fantastic at all the restaurants. I was a little concerned about eating at The Chef's Table, since you don't choose from a menu. We tried a number of dishes that we probably would not have and were not disappointed. The Silver Spirits package was also well worth it. We tried several different drinks we might not have, if we had to pay extra for them.
The room was beautifully decorated and quite comfortable.
We were able to see the northern lights while in port in Alta. The were so beautiful. The pictures do not do them justice.
Tromsø was our first port. It was very nice. I was surprised that the sidewalks were so icy but Viking had loaner cramp-ons for those who needed them. The Arctic Cathedral was beautiful.
Bergen was our last port call and I was surprised there was no snow. In fact it was about 50 F when we were there. We enjoyed our two day extension there and got to see a lot.
