This was our first cruise and we had no idea what to expect. Traveling post-Covid lockdown did have a few challenges but Viking did a stellar job balancing passenger safety with an overall good experience. Our 7-day Mediterranean cruise was superb. We did not have any time in Venice, our embarkation point due to a port closure and had to be bussed 90 miles South to Ravenna to start our cruise. This created a couple of challenges for us but Viking gave everyone a $150 credit for the inconvenience, a nice touch. The cabins, public areas, restaurants, spa and outside areas of the ship were sparklingly clean. Our cabin steward was awesome and we were greeted daily by everyone on the ship. The food was excellent and room service (24/7) was included at no extra charge. Ports of call were well thought out but we did not have any time in Athens on our last day, as we had to be off the ship by 9:00, so the ship could be readied for the next group of passengers. We had already booked a couple of extra nights in Athens anyway, so we did get to see that city. Most of the excursions were very good but the "devil's eye" boat tour from Kotor was a bit of a disappointment and marketing gimmick (not Viking's fault). Not having families with small kids on board was a plus and we found out later that is Viking's passenger profile but design. We left the ship with a zero balance in our account since most everything is included and we had the $150 credit per person. We loved the experience so much we have already booked the Inside Passage cruise for next August. We were a little surprised to have to pay for it in full by the end of this month but apparently that is common for the industry. Viking is highly rated for good reason; they take care of their customers, feed them well, keep them entertained and provide friendly, quality service. I rate them five stars for very good reasons and will testify to the quality of the experience by confirming we have booked our next cruise with them within a month of returning home from this cruise. Not bad for first time cruisers. Not cheap but worth the extra price.

Cabin Review

Spotless, well-appointed, attended to twice daily and service was excellent. The three times we ordered room service, the delivery was within 4-5 minutes of the scheduled time, even on our last morning aboard.
