Always wanted to experience Europe & felt the leisure trip via river boat was a great way to do that.Since we originally planned to sail in May, 2020, we had to wait 2 years. In many respects, it was worth the wait but issues that came up made me believe that the Viking folks in LA are clueless. As an opportunity came up to get a hotel for our first 2 days in Amsterdam actually in Amsterdam instead of our initial hotel in “The Hague”, I paid the up charge & through my travel agent had a confirmed hotel change. That bit of information never was corrected in Amsterdam and after an all night sleepless flight arriving 2 hrs late we were promptly taken to—“The Hague”, not our hotel in Amsterdam.4 exhausted hours later we were finally taken to where we should have been taken but not without forcefully demanding this to be done.Luckily I had proof of my itinerary change & payment. The time on board between Amsterdam and Budapest was great. Weather fully cooperated and side trips were fun and informative. Our final 2 days in Budapest (really only 36 hours) could have been much better had Viking in LA been on the ball.2 days before our planned departure from Budapest our flight home was cancelled. No one from Viking, who we had booked our flights through, bothered to inform us and we never received any airline notification. We got up at 0230 hrs and got to the airport for a cancelled 7:30 a flight when we could have slept and had a real breakfast we paid for. Finally left at 12:45pm, 9 hrs later. Side trip Quiet Vox system was not blue tooth compatible so it was useless for my wife.
Very nice room. Large enough for our 15 days on board. Enjoyed the balcony even though it was a bit small. TV was okay, very limited movie or TV show options available. Unfortunately, no closed captioning was available and this was not acceptable. Staff was great, cabin was always attended to. Thanks Stephann.
Fun visiting the 600 year old windmills. Oh, the cheese, very Guda it was.
Much old history. Lunch at a 1000 yr old outdoor kitchen. Chance to see a Roman wall from AD 179.
Cathedral was something to behold. Breathtaking stained glass.enjoyable walk through history.
Visited the Congress Hall, Zepplin Field, Court room 600.
Walking to Oberhaus Fortress was an experience. Many many steps up. Great view from the top. Worth the effort.
Beautiful clean city. Great side trip to city, Lipizann Stables. Ebike ride along the Danube was well worth it.
Wonderful history, friendly people. A shame the Chain Bridge was closed for renovations. Beautiful Palace tour. Great food.
Plan ahead to visit the Anne Frank House. Well worth the 5+ mile walk round trip. Watch for the thousands of bicycles that will run you down though.
