Without a doubt this was a cruise to remember as a wonderful experience. Can't say enough good things about the ship staff and the food. The shore excursions were also excellent. Viking does a great job making sure their guests are well taken care of. We do, in fact, have another cruise booked for next year.

I have two quibbles: one, given the existence of covid and the fact that a number of passengers were taken off the ship due to testing positive, I feel that Viking failed by not being transparent enough with the on-board passengers. It was, other than one brief corporate statement read during an evening talk by the Cruise Director early in the trip, left up to rumours from one passenger to another to figure out how many were being taken off the ship from one day to another and, believe me, there was talk. So, while Viking was doing regular testing, we were left to wonder what the actual state of covid infections were on board. Not good at all!!

Secondly, I wish Viking would deal with tips in a better way. I hate that we either have to buy the gratuity package or just have a gratuity amount added to our bill at the end of the trip. I don't mind tipping and do tip individual staff members for great service but Viking really needs to calculate and deal with tips differently. How hard would it be to add an amount to the cost of the trip and include in what we pay up front? Or even pay the staff better.
