This was our first river cruise, but we have already booked another for next year. We had a fabulous experience on the Tulips and Windmills cruise, in spite of some chilly/rainy weather the first few days. The crew was completely attentive and all of the logistics from greeting at the airport to transfer to the ship and check in was perfect. The quality of the excursions was excellent and the Viking guides at every stop were terrific. Our favorites were Bruges (what a fantastic picturesque city) and the Keukenhof Gardens, but we enjoyed every stop. There is a fair amount of walking, so comfortable shoes are a must. We met a lot of wonderful people on the ship and made friends that we will stay in touch with for life. This cruise is really for the Tulip Lovers and is best in April and May. Having experienced it now, we would have probably booked toward the end of April to get warmer weather. We regret that we did not book the Amsterdam extension. We would have liked more time in that city. We have become Viking fans now!

Cabin Review

Veranda Suite

We had a small suite with a separate sitting room and bedroom. It was nice to have the extra room. Viking puts fresh fruit in the room every day, which was a nice snack. The rooms are well maintained and comfortable. They are on the small side and we overpacked (lesson learned), but the bed is comfortable and the climate control was very good. Not a lot of dresser/storage space, so pack light and do laundry on the boat. That is our plan for next time.

Port Reviews

Amsterdam

We only spent two days in Amsterdam and that was not enough. It is a wonderful and picturesque city with plenty of beautiful places to walk and spectacular museums. We did not have enough time to enjoy more of the city and the culture.
