This is probably our fifth or sixth cruise with Viking. Needless to say, we really do like their ships, their staff, pricing and their professionalism. It would take a lot to get us to switch to another river cruise line.

We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise in Provence earlier this year. Lots of very interesting sights and information to learn about the history of this part of France. The only disappointment was that this stretch of the river is relatively short so actual "cruising time" was much less than one would find on the Danube or the Rhine. But, this is not the fault of Viking it's a fact about the geography of the region.

In early April, Covid infections were increasing in France and other parts of Europe. Despite this we elected to go on the cruise, in part, because Viking was taking a lot a precautions to protect passengers. All passengers had to be fully vaccinated, have receiving the Covid booster, and test negative at pre-boarding. Additionally, all passengers were required to do DAILY Covid "spit tests". Failure to test negative resulted in immediate quarantine to one's quarters and removal from the ship the following day. I don't know what, additionally, could be done to protect passengers.
