Although at the end of the active part of the pandemic Viking Star provided an excellent cruise experience. Daily PCR testing kept the management ahead of any problems. Several missed ports due to Covid. No refunds of port charges. Not much on board program offerings. Staff was excellent. Enjoyable, but not remarkable experience. Food was very good, but not up to Oceania standards. Confusing pre-cruise issue with their web site. The Viking web site indicated that reservations were required for dinner every day in the dining room. This was false. There are no reservations in the dining room, only for specialty restaurants.

Cabin was clean, and well equipped. Bathroom was excellent. They seem to have given up on providing current TED videos in the cabin or auditorium. The provided shore excursions were the "panoramic" mostly drive-by type. This was OK given the pandemic. They made an excellent effort to provide a very nice trip despite the world-wide health issues.
