We chose the Orion for the Panama Canal itinerary, especially since it sailed from Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles. We enjoyed the historical lectures and the multiple Planetarium events, as well as the Canal Locks informative step by step discussion. The ship was well-appointed with very comfortable seating throughout the ship. Two smallish pools, with one being an infinity pool with the other under a retractable roof. Food venues were top-notch and the service was very good much of the time. The Orion was in great shape and is very clean. Although mostly an excellent experience, there were some downs, too. One in particular: A lifeboat under our balcony had a mechanical /motor issue, and this caused our cabin to vibrate noisily a few days. We were temporarily moved to a substandard cabin (toilet didn’t work, etc). The noise continued the following day before eventually it was fixed. The staff did not handle our displacement or our disruption well. There was no explanation or follow up of any kind, nor even a token of apology. Was surprised that a premier cruise line would have allowed a guest to be inconvenienced without even a phone call. Yes, we did contact them to no avail. Regardless, we will try them again in the future as we understand this may have been a fluke.

Cabin Review

Was great except for vibrations emanating from the faulty life boat motor.
