This was our third ocean cruise with Viking. We can't wait to embark on the fourth.
We embarked on Thursday, April 21st in Bergen. The embarkation process was seamless, and we were walking up the gangway within minutes. As soon as we walked into the atrium, we felt at home. As we walked to our cabin we were greeted by staff and crew at every turn. After a brief stop in our cabin, we set out to walk about the streets of Bergen. It was a perfect spring day, and we were quickly charmed again by this beautiful city. After dinner, we retired to our balcony and enjoyed the setting sun as we sailed away to our first destination.
On Friday, April 22d we docked in Flam. Waterfalls of melting snow cascaded down the walls of the fjords in every direction. The water in the fjord was like a mirror, reflecting the magnificent scenery. On Saturday, April 23d, we toured Stavanger. The local families were celebrating secular confirmation for the young adults and everyone was resplendent in local traditional dress. On Sunday April 24th, we disembarked in Kristiansand and strolled through Ravnedalen Park. We finished the afternoon walking through the older part of the city with its wooden houses and had coffee and a pancake with brunost at a cafe. On Monday, April 25th we visited the Munch museum and the Fram museum in Oslo. After spending Tuesday, April 26th in Skagen, with its windswept dunes, we spent a leisurely day at sea. We sadly disembarked the Jupiter on Thursday, April 28th, but were happy that we arranged to spend two extra days in Amsterdam.
