I had cruised on Viking to Budapest and wanted to return there and see close-up what I had only seen on the bus in Pest. I chose this cruise because I was interested in seeing the "rest" of the Danube and Transylvania. The countries of Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania were impacted differently than other European countries by history and communism. The culture, the food and the landscape were interesting to learn about, experience and see. Viking included opportunities to meet local people, see local art, try local wines. The horsemanship at Bakodpuszta and organ recital at St. Joseph Church, on the same day, made that excursion the best one in my memory. What a treat! The post cruise extension to Transylvania offered 2 castles, well worth visiting. The drive to them was through beautiful countryside. But I have learned that about 2 weeks is my limit for enjoying travel and new sights. I was ready for home when we returned to Bucharest from Transylvania.

The crew was as friendly as expected on Viking. Many of the F&B service staff new me by name.

Cabin Review

French Balcony Superior

I will probably choose a cabin with a balcony next time so I can have a chair!
