This was our second Viking cruise. We were met as expected at Basel airport by the Viking representative and we were shown the bus to take us to the ship. Upon arrival at the ship safety measures were evident. We did a Covid test prior to being escorted to our stateroom. There was a requirement to submit saliva samples every morning for 3 days. Masks were to be worn on board and during excursions except when eating or drinking. Makes you feel confident that every measure being taken to safeguard everyone's health.

Service was always attentive and crew was helpful. Nice touch that they now provide water before departing for excursions. Food was for the most part excellent. Some folks we were dining with were disappointed with the always available rib eye steak because it was inconsistent - sometimes chewy other times it was great. Overall I thought the food was very good. I tried to stay with the regional specialties as much as possible. Must have lunch on the Aquavit terrace if the weather is nice. Took advantage of the good selection of single malts and cognac at the bar.

I found the included excursions to be just right in length - gives you ample time to explore on your own. A change from our last cruise is that there is very little entertainment coming on board. This may be a Covid safety related thing. Viking is not the cheapest option but you can be sure everything works well so you can focus on enjoying. Will definitely do another one just deciding on where.
