Wanted to visit Eastern Europe, and going solo, I wanted to feel secure. Having done one other lovely tour with Tauck , I felt they would do a good job and I was happily rewarded for my confidence in them. We started with a hotel stay and a few days in Romania. The hotel was well located and tours excellent! In fact, I had some of the best guides I’ve ever enjoyed anywhere, on this trip. Really well informed, interesting and fun! The ship is just beautiful and I especially love that in the lowest category, you pay the same for a solo, so NO single supplement. The room is small, but all I did was sleep and shower there so I was perfectly happy. It was very well appointed and there’s plenty of storage room. Being able to take a cruise without single supplements which can cost up to 100%, is a real plus if you must travel solo, or prefer to do so. The meals were delicious, with lots of wonderful choices and alcohol included other than very specific items. Snacks and drinks are available all day. The top of the ship has a walking track and lots of places to sit, and as the weather was generally excellent, people enjoyed being there to watch the passing scenery. The staff was superb, obviously happy to have travelers after two years with few to none. They were pleasant, helpful and quite skilled in their service. Eastern Europe is fascinating, and very different from the West. I enjoyed meeting a family in Croatia, which had experienced the war there. Upon arrival in Budapest, we transferred to a hotel for two more days. I’m signed up for another Tauck cruise and will count Tauck in my top travel resources.
