My husband tested positive with Covid on day 4 of the 7 day cruise. He had no symptoms. I was negative. They took us back to Vienna and we quarantined for 5 days. We missed half of the cruise, a tour, and a 3 day extension trip in Prague (all prepaid of course). Total costs were about 5K each. Here are all of the misleading and untrue statements we heard repeatedly before our trip and during being removed and placed into quarantine:
1) Your trip insurance will cover everything, included in the "No Risk Guarantee": a. Not true - if you paid with vouchers which they freely gave during 2020-2022, trip interruptions (such as for Covid) are not covered; and b. Trip delays are covered up to $300 a day, but Viking chooses the hotel for you, without input or consent, and total daily room and meals in most cities cost more than that sum. You are not informed of any costs or limits during your stay. You are required to pay before you leave and then realize the limits only when you submit for reimbursement.
2) You must quarantine with your husband, there is nothing you can do. The truth: I was negative and was not required to quarantine; but I was placed in the same room as a supposedly infected person. Actually, my husbands CT results indicated he was not contagious and the local officials said he did not have to quarantine. Viking refused any retest. You are not given your rights and the rules either as a passenger or as a visitor.
