Every space is Instagrammable--this is the entrance to the Manor, the ship's main nightclub.
Gunbae Korean barbecue--our server just brought us everything on the menu and grilled it at our table!
Bone Marrow at the Wake

Virgin Voyages lived up to its promise to be the Cruise Line for people who don’t like cruises.

First of all, no kids. No sticky little critters underfoot. No splashing and yelling in the pool. No little moppets flopping around the disco floor while we all stand there cooing at them but secretly wishing they’d all go to bed so we can get our twerk on. Nope–that pool and that dance floor are all ours!

That changes the whole environment. The adults are relaxed and social. The entertainment is unique and, yes, at some times more risque than you find on other lines. (That was a selling point for us. You can get lounge singers anywhere, but not a sexologist show!) People were social and fun and dancing all night. (And, yes, there were plenty of quiet spaces on the ship for relaxing, recovering, and alone time.)

Cabin Review

We loved the hammock on the balcony, and the cabin was laid out very well with plenty of storage. The iPad was great when it worked and frustrating when it died--but our steward had it replaced very quickly.

Port Reviews

Bimini

The island is small, so you can get a golf cart and easily see the whole thing in a few hours. This lets you see some of the authentic island life and meet some locals. I'd highly recommend a stop at Radio Beach for a drink and some conch fitters. The local "craft market" is pretty small, but the people are friendly so it's a pleasant stop.

The Bimini beach club is gorgeous, and it's great having the whole place to yourself when you're there with Virgin Voyages. They had a great DJ (brought in from Vegas) and absolutely beautiful pools and beach.

Costa Maya

There is a cute developed area at the port with a pool, shops, bars, and restaurants. It's a pleasant place to spend a couple of hours.

However, beyond that, there isn't much. We tried to take excursions where we would have floated down a river on tubes or on a raft to the Bacalor Lagoon. Both were canceled (no reason given), so we wound up riding a bus to the lagoon, which was basically a beach club with chairs, palapas, a few kayaks, and some food (not anything memorable.)

Friends did the Mayan ruins excursion and were disappointed that they spent little time at the ruins.

People who did the stingray expedition loved it.

Miami

Miami is vibrant and fun with so much Latin influence. If you want to get beyond South Beach, a great place to visit is Wynwood, which is covered in murals and has some of the most hip clubs and eateries. If you want to extend your stay a few days but don't want to spend downtown Miami prices, check out the resorts on Sunny Isles, about half an hour from the port.
