Nine days, recently refurbed vessel, nice itinerary- What could go wrong? Mass confusion regarding Canadian? boarding requirements, slow speed (fuel savings?) caused most of port calls to be shortened, tendered at Juneau, with no ships at docks until we were leaving, and no port visit off the ship at Victoria. Docked at Ward Cove, a tourist shop barn 25 mi. from Ketchikan, instead of downtown great port stop. Slow speed near trough of rough seas ended up making Seattle a half day late, costing many extra hotel night, cab charges, or sleeping for 6 hours or so at SEATAC, plus flight change charges- My change cost $175, plus parking for additional day. Some families paid hundreds of dollars. No compensation offered.

The cabin was neat and clean, and the stewards, and wait staff were excellent. I saw the Hotel Captain about the ship fairly often. I rarely saw ship's senior officers, nor the ship's Captain at all. I heard the word passed by the Captain on a few rare occasions. Never heard the Captain give the 12 O'Clock report. Only reference I ever heard or saw to the incredibly slow speed was in the May 12 major scheduling change sheet that said "As a result of unforesceen circumstances,..." over the Captain's name. No other explanation.
