We booked this cruise in July 2019, made final payment in March 2020 3 days before lock down occurred. We were refused a refund and so we went along with the need to wait. Not a happy ending here.
The departure port was changed from Venice to Ravenna, we were promised, in writing, that a complimentary shuttle would take us from Marco Polo airport to the ship. Well, after many excuses and blaming everyone else, we were charged $274.00 for the "complimentary" shuttle. When we arrived at the dock to load, we were actually held hostage until I agreed to pay for this shuttle. Thing is, the staff had no idea what the charge was for at that time, just that they needed me to agree to this random fee before I could board the ship.
I have spoken to every department at R.C. but there seems to be nobody that will help me out. I know it's not a lot of money, but there is a principal involved here. There were other promises and agreements that were also not honored.
The suite was spacious and comfortable. Lots of drawers and cupboards for stowage. We also had a good size bathroom.
Ate lunch on the waterfront. Great food and service, not expensive. We then took a tour with Avalon tours. Learned a lot about the island and it's history
We wanted to see the historic sights and were not disappointed. Ended up back in the city and puchased a really nice meal.
Great day including a swim at beach. Lunch in the mountains was provided and was lovely. The mountain drive wih Jeeps was a little hairy but thoroughly enjoyable.
Good educational tour of the city and surroundings.
Hard not to fall in love with this place.
We spent three additional days in Venice after the cruise. It is a wonderful place to roam, shop, eat and drink. Make sure to do your research before you go and you will have lots of fun finding you way around. One tip, eat where locals eat, try to stay away from the tourist restaurants.
