We chose this cruise due to Holland America's reputation in Alaska ( The park service prefers Holland America), the price ( super low) and because we had sailed on the Z dam 18 years ago...
The crew was amazing. Knew our names after only a few days, dealt with difficulties ( excursions cancelled due to illness of guides) solved our minor problems and treated us like honored guests. Plenty to do on the Alaskan cruise, naturalists on board, captain announcing humpback whales, and staying as long as possible in glacier bay. One let me repeat this ONE crew member was not up to the standards of the others. That is a high praise indeed. Entertainment was on par for an expedition, dance troupe good and Lincoln Center great, BB King lounge was of high standard as well. That woman can SING! Food was good with a surprising off note in dessert quality, .... Small portions- apps and mains which I like- good quality and variety, Alaskan seafood on offer. Pinnacle and the Sommelier from the Philippines was excellent. Lido was comfortable with staff serving instead of a buffet and Crows Nest Coffee and Bar was delightful. Croissants and chocolate croissants excellent. Cabin 8005 was well maintained and super clean, though one windy night the divider between balconies was blown open and banged a bit before we propped it open. We really enjoyed this cruise.
Embarkation was delayed due to the US customs computers being down. Not the fault of the cruise line.
