Was looking forward to this Alaskan inner passage cruise with 4 stops scheduled. Just before sailing, we were emailed that one full-day stop (Ketchikan) would be canceled. A short 4-hour stop substituted (Icy Strait Point). What really happened? They had to cancel that substitute stop as well AND didn't make it to Juneau in time to have any excursions there. Engine trouble. But I've now read other online reviews about the Crown Princess and these same problems existed a more than month prior. Yet they still set sail and I suspect they will continue to do so with the same bait/switch behavior through the summer. In addition to engine troubles, the ships crew, although lovely to us, were still untrained. They have staffed the ship unevenly, and insufficiently. The food was so-so. I expected better and have had much, much better in the past on Holland America. Not sure if this is cost-cutting due to Covid losses or whether it's this bad always. The MedallionClass app was really a nuisance, not working consistently and slow. Took their staff forever to fulfill orders and was really frustrating to us in making reservations or looking up events. In summary, the experience was not as advertised. I urge you to avoid this ship until engine troubles are fixed. And I would also question service/food quality, as these seem to be areas where they have cut costs and it shows.
