We chose to go on the cruise around the UK as we would visit island groups hitherto unexplored - the Orkneys, Mull and the Scilly Isles.
The first stop was Edinburgh and we were excited to have the perfect opportunity to meet up with old friends who lived there. However there was a problem with the waste ecosystem and we were stranded at Tilbury for more than 24 hours awaiting a spare part. Fortunately the weather was glorious, as inside the ship it was very hot and stuffy as well as there being an all pervading smell of sewage in the bow decks from the spacious Palladium theatre down through the cabins below. We were given £100 on board credit per cabin as compensation. Needless to say we ended up bypassing Edinburgh so our longed for meeting never happened.
We had our cabin thermostat set on the lowest setting but it was still uncomfortably hot and we asked if it could be fixed. An engineer visited, noted that he had removed the 'reheat' and that therefore it was therefore fixed. It remains uncomfortably hot making sleep difficult.
Plenty of storage space but TOO HOT AND STUFFY
