The management lied and said the ship would go under routine maintenance during the cruise and would not cause any major problems- well missing shore excursions because we never arrived on time is a MAJOR problem. The true reason was the main engine was down and we ran on backup engines- this was the first cruise that I saved a lifetime to take. However, the crew was nice and friendly. I upgraded to a suite in the rear of the ship- big mistake- the backup engines roared and vibrated all the time we were at sea, this caused us to be late and MISS shore excursions. This was my bucket list and first cruise - I must say because of the missed land excursions- this was a horrible and costly vacation- I did not get my money's worth out of the cruise. The ship was very clean and this could have been a very enjoyable cruise if we had not moved through the water like a turtle because of the backup engines taking over for the main engine.

Cabin Review

I got the upgrade to a suite- it was in the rear of the ship and the backup engines made it feel like we were on vibrating beds and the room fixtures rattled all the time while at sea - which was the majority of the time
