We chose this cruise as we wanted to do a full transit of the Panama Canal. And this cruise totally delivered on that. We experienced going through the canal from the Miraflores, the Pedro Miguel, and then the Gatun locks. We received a lot of really good history and information on the region, and got to see the locks in action.
As an added bonus, the food aboard was excellent. Hence we embarked as passengers, disembarked as cargo.
The ship, even though it was 20 years old, was still in excellent shape. All of the public areas were beautifully maintained and are in great shape.
Everything was fine. The ship is 20 years old, so we expected things to work like it is 20 years old. The cabin had lots of storage and closet space, nice bathroom, comfortable bed. Our only issue was that not all of the buttons worked on the safe, so we had to be creative in coming up with a combination that only used working buttons.
Beautiful city. Full of history and culture. Old city and Getsemani are areas that are a must see. Stunning vistas from the Fort Castillo de San Filipe de Barajas and the Monastery Santa Cruz de la Popa.
- A walking tour of the old city can be had for $10 per person, just have to look for the right tour guide. And if you tell the tour guide you are not buying anything from street vendors, the tour guide will make sure you stay unslicited.
- Recommend taking a taxi up to the Monastery.
- The Fort takes 1.5 hours to fully walk/climb and enjoy.
- When leaving the cruise port, getting a taxi is a frustrating process.
