Thought we would be on a well-prepared fun cruise which turned into a nightmare because of staff shortages, false promises made and changed every day, no workable plans for Covid outbreak and general mistreatment of infected patients. In my wife's room she could not get phones to dial. Room service for food was a joke. They were late getting meals, and the order was never correct. All the trash and used food trays cluttered the hallway. They were each promised to leave ship by 10am and that they would have help with luggage if needed. They got no help and had to carry their luggage to busses for Seattle. The bus had no toilet paper or running water for the women in the restroom. There was also no drinking water provided for the trip. The person we communicated with made promises which never came true. When orders were given, they were constantly changed at the last minute. First, they told them they would be getting off the ship to a bus to quarantine in Vancouver and would have to spend the 10 days in quarantine that Canada requires. In the late afternoon the day before debarkation, all of a sudden, they changed their minds, AGAIN. We would now be taken off the ship, placed in busses and go to Seattle. With this change, they decided to get us back to the USA because the CDC requirements for quarantine is only 5 days with one day of showing no fever. It appears they had no plan in place on how to handle an outbreak of Covid on their ships. We're still waiting to hear from them on how they intend to handle when we stopped our vacation and had to deal with Covid contracted while in their program. We strongly feel Covid was given to us on the land tour part of the package. Possibly at the buffets we attended at Fairbanks or Denali. These places were also understaffed and crowded with tourist people always standing in long lines and waiting for crowded restaurant seating. My wife and her friend, who had no previous contact before the vacation, contracted the disease at the exact same time. This was an indication the infection was passed on during our vacation time. I know for sure they had the whole #9 Dolphin Deck full of Covid patients. I also think and was told there was another location I did not get the number of that was also filled with Covid patients. We definitely will not cruise for a while due to fear all cruise lines, especially Princess, may not be prepared for the outbreaks like we had on our ship.

Cabin Review

Nice, but still small for a mini suite. Balcony was just a ledge with a partition around it. The air circulation on this ship would not meet CDC or anybody else's requirements. We were told Covid patients were put on deck 9 because air circulation there meets the standard requirements, and the rest of the ship does not. I actually could not find any air input that felt like it had a flow so I had to keep opening cabin balcony door.

Skagway

Don't do the railroad and salmon bake. The train ride was not bad but the Salmon Bake was a joke for the price. They take you to a really rundown, slumy part of Liarsville. There, you get to eat outdoors and the food is tasteless and looks like leftovers they had from a previous tour or ??? The actors were okay but the gold panning was really stupid. They poured dirt into a pan and supplied some shiny metal flake that you had to slush around to find. Definitely not worth the price we paid for it.
