Checking off the bucket list, a cruise to Alaska! First time cruiser, whuch means when something went wrong we usually disnt know until it was too late.
Starting with the good. Every stop in Alaska was amazing! The people in town are so friendly and do not treat you like a tourist. Whales and Trails in Juneau was fanatastic and the Wildlife Refuge from Skagway to Haines was interesting even though the owner is a quite the character. All the good is thanks to Alaska and its people.
This is where the good ends. We got an upgrade to a balacony on bid a few days before embarking. What a disaster....it shut down the app immediately so could not register online or see anything but request for when on boat to open app. We never received boarding passes, which aggrevated the guy at the firsr check in point and was several minutes of explaining until he just looked us up on his printed out piece of paper. Then 4 floors of different check points before being sat in a room until number is called. We then roamed the boat for over 2 hrs before we ran into other guests who told us rooms were ready. No announcement, no update on app. This also caused us not to receive our tickets to our first excursion. First time crusiers so didnt know you needed a physical ticket.
Beds are the worst. Wooden hangers in a wooden closet so bang all night. Staff was excellant on cleaning. All paperwork was extermely late. Note ship was half full.
