Overall we had a great cruise. Staff always great on royal. We tried the ultimate dining package for the first time. We where one of the first to board and we went right to Jamie's to make bookings for the whole week. We where only able to get two reservations for dinner at chops and no lunches. So I feel sorry for people that didn't get on the ship early enough to get reservations. WE ate at Jamie's four times, chops twice, izumi four times, playmakers twice and once at Johnny rockets. On the last day we tried the main dining room, I feel the food was not as good as it used to be in the main dining room. So we where glad to be able to eat at all the specialty restaurants. FYI we paid $25 per person per day for the UDP.
Mariner was defiantly not our favorite class of ship. We feel the venues are to small to accommodate everyone, especially the pub and schooner bar where they have some of the best entertainers.
The islands where awesome. The ship arrived in Aruba at 9am and stayed till 11pm. We have never been in a port that long. We had friends on the celebrity ship that was in port with us, and we met them for dinner on eagle beach at a place called Passions. We sat and watched the sunset and had the most lovely dinner.
