We purchased this Alaskan cruise for a retirement gift for my wife. We had waited 15 years to take this trip and were so excited to finally be leaving. Let’s start with the ship, it was in no way ready to sail! Once we were onboard we found knobs missing from cabinets in our suite. We received notice due to scheduled maintenance we couldn’t cruise at the speed necessary to complete our itinerary so no Ketchikan we would go to Icy Strait instead. We were supposed to cruise outside passage to Juneau then Skagway, Glacier Bay and finally Ketchikan. Every morning there was a new note under the door with more changes. What we wound up with was Ketchikan for a few hours so we could not take our excursion, no stop in Juneau at all, no Icy Strait stop either! We were sailing so slow that we were late to every port, at Skagway we got to do 1/4 of our excursion and by the time we got back most everything in town was closed. We went to the sail away event, upon returning to our cabin our toilet would not flush, two days later it would flush but had no water in it. Three days out of seven with no toilet. Toilets in other cabins were overflowing so from mid ship aft it smelled like an open sewer. Two of the four dining rooms were not open so it took 2.5 to 4 hours to get a meal which were average at best. The buffet was comparable to a school cafeteria. Canned fruit, really! My wife had a prize in the bottom of one of her dishes, a hair! Pineapple was the best thing on the ship. The outdoor grill was good but had just one staff member trying to take care of a large number of people. Long wait times for drinks. Because the Medallion system was sooooo slow. My app did not load fully the entire cruise so I was unable to make reservations for meals.

It took an hour and a half to two hours to disembark the ship at every port, it was mass confusion. The most organized part of the cruise was disembarking and getting our luggage at the end. Passengers had no hot water, no cold water or no water at all! So what does Princess do? Gives us $100 ship credit and a 20% discount on our next cruise! What an insult!!! We did not get 20% of the cruise we paid for! If we wanted to take a seven day boat ride we would have booked one! To say we are disappointed is a severe understatement! May Holland America can do it right!
