I have been on many cruises and I have tried several cruise lines, but I had heard good things about NCL, so I thought why not?!? If this is you, let me tell you why not…
Initial cruise was cancelled for COVID, and that was understandable, but the cruise line refused refunds and would only allow future credit, but with an expiration date, I am sure retired folks don’t have to worry about coordinating schedules, and making plans, but if like me you are still in the working class you will understand that it is not always easy to coordinate 14 days in row off with an employer, much less an employer for each person in your group.
Next, we rescheduled within the NCL dictated deadline and squeezed in a comparable trip, but since it docked in Russia, with the current state of affairs it was cancelled again! Still understandable but the cruise line would not still offer a refund, and would not extend the expiration deadline, yet it cancelled literally one week before embarking on the trip. Now those who work will understand what kind of mountain that takes to move, but again we were able to make it work and there were only a couple that were expensive enough to use the credit and not allow it to expire. So we chose one and were elated to finally be making the journey.
Small, HOT, broken toilet seat, sink doesn’t drain (sink was fixed), and bed is uncomfortable.
The port is on the not pretty side of the island, and if the ship is sold out of excursions there is nothing reasonable to go do in the amount of time in dock.
Will visit Kauai again, but certainly not with a cruise.
Relatively unremarkable with respect to the port, but stayed extra days in Waikiki, and it was nice. Beautiful place and would visit again.
