  3. Carnival Ecstasy
We were a group of 10 adults and 10 just graduated high school seniors celebrating on the Carnival Ecstasy. This was my 15th cruise and my sons 10th. We have sailed Celebrity, Carnival (this was our fourth time with Carnival), Disney (3 times), Princess (once) and Royal Caribbean (7 times). We chose the Carnival Ecstasy because it was close as we live in Houston so it was easier than flying. We found the price to be outrageous for a five night cruise on a older ship with very few amenities. Overall the food was fine, service was fine, entertainment was so-so. There was not a whole lot to do and I enjoyed just reading but noticed so many things that I missed that the newer ships have. If I had paid about half the price I would have been satisfied but considering we paid $2,200 for three of us in an ocean view (with a window we could barely see out of as it was filthy) we felt like the cruise was completely over priced. Port wise...Progresso is not a port we would return to. We did the Corona Beach Party and the staff did a great job but it was so hot and the water was brown/ green as you are gulf side not Caribbean side and smelled really fishy so none of us got in. Disembarkation was a complete nightmare. Stood lined up at the stair well from 8 am until 9:30 then 45 minutes to get through Customs (overall about 2 and a half hours to get off the ship. The worst we have EVER experienced)...this is with self disembarkation! Cozumel is always a great port. Not sure if it is just Carnival we didn't like or the older ship but we will stick with the newer ships and will never sail on the Ecstasy again unless the prices drop drastically.

Ecstasy not worth the price
