Joined family members on this 5 night cruise as a quick get away. We flew into Houston Hobby Airport the day prior to the cruise and used Island Breeze Shuttle for our transport to Galveston ($150 roundtrip for two ppl). When you make reservations with Island Breeze they get your flight number and arrival time, the driver will text you on where to meet him. We stayed at the Hilton Galveston Island Resort. This hotel is directly across the street from the beach, close to a Smith's grocery where you can pick up forgotten or last minute items (sunscreen, snacks, wine). Also many restaurant options within easy walking distance. The hotel has a restaurant and pool bar. The Hilton offers a free shuttle to the cruise port.
Embarkation was seamless (make sure you have all your information ready). Took us less than 15 minutes. We saw some very frustrated people who obviously did not have the proper documentation. This caused them to wait in lines and delay their boarding. The emails we received from RCCL prior to our cruise were very clear on what was required. We did print out all the documents just in case we had digital issues at the pier.
Dining: Had dinner in the MDR all but one night, assigned late seating. Server, Assistant and Head Waiter were great! We loved interacting with them every evening and hearing about their home countries, and how they managed during the shut down. One night we ate at Giovanni's and the meal and service was superb! Meals in the MDR were good. Lots of seafood options that I loved but others in our group found something every night they enjoyed as well. Windjammer was as expected. Good food choices every day. It was crowded at times so we choose to eat there either early or wait until the crowd subsided. The Park Cafe in the Solarium didn't open until 10a which was disappointing.
