We wanted to see the British Isles and didn't want to fly over. We have sailed several times with Princess and had very good food, service and overall relaxation. On this trip we found that the food was just ok but our waiter and busboy were great and we had very nice people at our table. Room service was excellent. We had the drink package with our cruise and it was a joke. I don't think they put any alcohol in any of my drinks, even when I ordered a gin and tonic. Our room was very nice and our room stewardess was great. I did miss not having the room attended to twice a day, but it was ok as my husband and I are not messy. Had a slight problem with the 2 families that had kids and were letting them run and jump and do cannon balls in the pool so I told the kids to knock it off and they did. After the first day I just when up and used the Jacuzzis in the spa area. Much nicer. The International Cafe was great. Hubby (until he came down with covid after Lisbon) and I found that it was the best for lunch and breakfast. Now comes the bad part. Hubby came down with a runny nose just after Lisbon so we did a covid test (I carry them with me) and he tested positive. Called medical and they came right up and test both of us. I was negative so they told him he had an hour to get packed and they moved him to the 12th deck. He was just up 3 floors and over 4 doors from me so we could see each other when we wanted to. He had a balcony and I still had our mini-suite. I just couldn't eat in the dining room for 3 days which I was still testing clear after that time. In the mean time, hubby got lucky and got his certificate so he could fly after May 5. Night before we got into Southampton I was informed that I would have to get off with my husband. I had both passports and he had to wait at debarkation for me for 50 minutes before they would let me out of our cabin to leave. Got on bus and got to the Radisson which they informed us they didn't have enough rooms so we had to room with our infected roommate, no maid service or communication with Princess. We were due to fly home on the 9th (this was the 1st) so I called EZAir to get a flight before the 9th but after the 5 and after 2 1/2 hours on hold talked to a rep and after another 1/2 hour was told that she could not find any flight earlier that fit our home base. So we got to stay in London. We were one of the lucky couples that got a suite as Princess picked up the bill from the 1st to the 5th then we were on our own until we could send everything to insurance. They have testing sites set up behind all the hotels on airport row so it was easy (but expense) to get your return test. Thank goodness I never came down with it and when my hubby and I got on that plane we were extremely happy. Things to think about for next cruise: Take covid kits, make sure you have your insurance information and call numbers, make sure you have enough finances to stay somewhere if you come down with covid if you are from the US because you are not getting on that plane without a negative test or a certificate of Covid, keep all receipts.

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Great room stewardess and comfortable.

Port Reviews

Very pretty island, but think this is where hubby picked up his covid.
