My wife and I had a credit due to a cancellation caused by Covid 19. We had been wanting to see Alaska for some time. The credit had a timetable when it needed to be used and we chose an early season trip to avoid families with children in the high season.

The Royal Princess was undertaking it’s first Alaskan cruise in two years. This is a Medallion Class ship. Princess indicate that passengers will enjoy the use of the Medallion in conjunction with the Medallion App. Let me say this is a gimmick and that it is a complete waste of time. Before the cruise you have to download the App to complete the booking. Unfortunately the App has glitches that prevent completion. Therefore went on-line but, still unable to complete. Finally, the necessary detailed information had to be made by phone. Anybody who has phoned Princess Customer care will know you will need a fully charged phone as you’r going to have a long wait..

On the ship you are told booking a meal time, calling for a drink or booking a tip is a breeze. Most of the time the details couldn’t be accessed and when they could the App crashed. Some information was available like where you were on the ship, great help. Used the Medallion to board and exit the ship.
