Alaska was the only state I hadn’t visited so a cruise there made sense. What a cruise! Vancouver to Whittier with stops in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway. Too bad they wouldn’t let me rate this six stars. Everyone on Princess staff was so nice, polite and positive. We continued the land portion going on to Denali, Mount McKinley lodge and Anchorage. Their logistics are un beatable. Our bags were always waiting for us in our rooms and the buses operated on time. Even had our own Princess train car ride to Anchorage.
The food on ship was exquisite. We’re from Las Vegas and we have amazing restaurants, but even the included restaurants were outstanding, many different selections and just the right sized portions. Service was impeccable. We also ate at the Chef’s Table hosted by the executive chef and head maitre’d. Seven courses with unique wine pairings in a circle of light. This was one of the finest dining experiences we’ve ever had. They even present you with a photo, autographed cookbook and a rose for my wife. What a dinner!
Our Italian captain was tremendous. He took us as close to the glaciers as a ship that size could get. Amazing views. And after each announcement he’d sign off with a high pitched BYE BYE. We also had a marine botanist on board who gave lectures on bears, glaciers whales and also narrated as we went through Glacier Bay and other areas. His name is Mark Davis and if you go on any of the Alaska cruises, go to his presentations. They are informative and entertaining.
