I sailed on the Norwegian Joy to Bermuda from NY on May 1. 2022 and paid a substantial amount to stay in a

Haven Courtyard Suite with large balcony. The room and the room steward were excellent, but that's where the superlatives end. I stayed in the Haven on the NCL Getaway recently and was very pleased. However, I was extremely disappointed with the Haven experience on the NCL Joy. To begin with, the concierge service was merely adequate. There was NO concierge escort service to shows without reservations ( eg- the popular Beatles Revolution shows), which are held in relatively small venues and require "lining up" to get in around an hour before showtime if you want to get a seat. On the Getaway, this service was provided and guaranteed Haven guests a seat in the smaller venues without having to "line up" an hour before the show in order to get a seat. In addition, although the food in the Haven restaurant was excellent, the service was EXTREMELY slow. We usually had dinner at 5:30 pm when the Haven restaurant opened, and had trouble getting to early shows without reservations which started at 7 or 7:30 pm! This is was an major problem for us on this cruise. The Haven lounge ( bar) also was disappointing. On several occasions, there were screaming children in the bar area and even young kids sitting at the bar!( One would think that there would be signage prohibiting children from sitting at the bar!) This made for an unpleasant Haven lounge experience and we frequently had to relocate and have cocktails outside of the Haven due to unruly children in the Haven bar area. In short, in my opinion, the Haven experience was definitely not worth it on this ship! In addition, although the ship sailed at reduced capacity on this voyage, several public areas still seemed crowded at times. There simply are not enough lounge chairs around the pool area and on the sun deck! The Guest Services department also was disappointing on this ship. We had an issue with an item that we had paid for pre-cruise which did not appear on our key cards. Guest services personnel were unhelpful and at times downright rude, and did not resolve our problem in a timely manner. After 2 days of haggling, I had to personally phone NCL reservations from the ship and after staying on hold for 20 minutes, was finally able to resolve the problem myself. I would definitely not recommend the Haven on the NCL Joy, and probably would not sail on this ship again unless I was offered an extremely reduced price!
