We selected this cruise in 2019, but because of the pandemic, couldn't go on it until this year. Many of the people we met were in this position too. Everyone was quite happy to be on holiday.
Scenic was a bit difficult to contact prior to the cruise - on hold for long periods of time - and final paperwork was sent very close to the start of the trip. In the end, everything worked out. We even received very nice backpacks to use.
We did the pre-cruise trip to Lisbon. They picked us up at the airport where we immediately met other couples on the trip. The next 3 days were fun, informative and seamless. We stayed at the InterContinental in Lisbon. The rooms all had twin beds which we thought was funny but the breakfast was good. Our guide, Sophia, was great.
Cabin was nice. We never met with our butler - learned about the room from other guests. A bit disappointed with that. The bathroom was nice but the sink counter was too shallow and water got all over the floor. The shower controls were on the far side so you almost had to get wet to turn them on. The toilet paper holder was so far back from where you were sitting that you could dislocate your shoulder (seriously, everyone was laughing about it). They did have a cool night light over the toilet for safety. Again, no USB ports and not enough extra plugs for all cabins.
Bus ride was pretty and not too long. We were fortunate to visit on Sunday, 5/1. It was Mother's Day with a big procession throughout the town. A wonderful slice of life and culture. Very enjoyable.
